Visit the island of Eternal Spring. This 4-day itinerary is a perfect extension to your European Vacation and will give you a brief sampling of everything the beautiful island of Tenerife has to offer: deluxe accommodations, superb food and world famous wines, the perfect climate, and a range of outdoor activities, stargazing, wine tasting, and visits to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, The Teide National Park and La Laguna. Be among the first Americans to visit this breathtaking island.
Fly from any major European Airport to Tenerife South Airport (TFS). You will receive private transfer to your 5-star hotel such as the Sheraton La Caleta, located in the popular southern part of the Island, called Costa Adeje. Check in at your hotel and take some time to become acquainted with your deluxe accommodations for the next 3 nights. The rest of the afternoon is yours to enjoy.
After breakfast, spend the day in the Northern part of the island on a private guided tour. First, head to Tenerife’s capital, Santa Cruz. Learn how its harbor developed into one of the Atlantic Ocean’s most important shipping ports in the 19th century. See the how the city’s shops, restaurants, art galleries, natural history museum, colorful buildings, and striking contemporary architecture of the Adan Martin Auditorium and the Tenerife Espacio de las Artes all contribute to a definitively Spanish cosmopolitan atmosphere. Next, head to La Laguna which is considered to be the cultural capital of the Canary Islands. Its historical center was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999 and is known for its many beautiful churches, including Santo Domingo, the Church of the Holy Christ and the San Miguel Chapel. Afterwards, the tour continues to Bodegas Monje Vineyard where you’ll enjoy a tasting of traditional Canarian wines. Located 500 meters above sea level, the vineyard is situated on rocky ground and dry lava from the nearby volcano, but, over time, the land has become very rich. Although the wine cellars were built in 1983, Bodegas Monje is a family vineyard dating to 1750. The Monje family is among Tenerife’s first wine producers, cultivating and bottling wine from the three grapes grown here — Listan Negro, Listan Blanco, and Negramoll.
This morning, set out for a group whale watch, which is one of the “must do’s” while in Tenerife. Just a short 15 minute boat ride away, spot non-migratory Bottlenose dolphins, Pilot whales, and 21 other marine species that are unique to this area. Since these beautiful creatures don’t migrate, this means that visitors are practically guaranteed to spot marine life every day of the year! This evening, you’ll visit Las Cañadas National Park, home to Mt. Teide. This park is characterized by its unique lunar landscape, flora, and fauna, seen nowhere else on earth. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007, Mt. Teide is an iconic attraction and a must-see for visitors. Tenerife is one of the best locations on the planet for stargazing because of its clear dark skies, low light pollution, and a high altitude. Due to these exceptional conditions and the activities and guides available to educate visitors, Teide National Park was awarded the “Starlight Tourist Destination,” and “Starlight Reserve” certificates by the Starlight Foundation in late 2013
Prior to departure, today is yours to enjoy however you wish! You may want to check out your hotel’s spa, gym, or perhaps spend the morning shopping in Costa Adeje.
